The Alumni Association of Long Island Lutheran is comprised of over 3,400 graduates from our school’s 50-year history.
The Association boasts an active Alumni Council representing graduate years from 1964 through 2000, incorporated into a larger 50th Anniversary Committee for 2010. The focus of the Alumni Council is to find meaningful ways for LuHi graduates to become involved in the everyday life of the school – as volunteers, supporters, and friends.
Alumni are invited to engage themselves in ways that are suitable to their adult lives. Many alumni have served on the Long Island Lutheran Board of Directors. Others serve on committees of the Board or as volunteer leaders for special events. In recent years, the school has been blessed by a marked increase in the number of alumni who involve themselves in special events and support programs for students through that involvement.
The highlight of alumni service to the school is a biennial Career Day where alumni return to campus to share college and career experiences with current sophomores and juniors. The invaluable information assists current LuHi students as they choose their own college experiences and eventual career paths.
Alumni have also begun groups on Facebook: Long Island Lutheran Middle & High School and Long Island Lutheran Alumni. Additionally, a Long Island Lutheran High School group exists on Linkedin. These networking sites offer another way for alumni to stay in touch with each other and with the school.
